Today was a good day! This trip was a whirlwind of many different emotions. Looking back at where I started to where I am now causes me to pause, and reflect. Its like my life is on fast forward as soon as I made the decision to move off the island. I had a dream of what I wanted after I finished my degree, and I think it is coming true. All that hard work. I truly feel blessed. But of course two sides to every coin right! Its all good!!!!
Just enough time to look up and see the blossoms begin blooming around me. The colors are different here in the mainland. Just as beautiful as the islands, but different. The rolling hills, the cherry blossoms, and many other different flowers that appear in the neighborhoods are just gorgeous.
Right outside the office in the parking lot was a turkey roaming around. Now I am from Kaua’i and all we have there are chickens roaming. Even some places you can see peacocks roaming around but turkeys, too funny! There was that moment that I had to get a picture, and as I did I thought of the tourists visiting Kaua’i taking pictures of the chickens. Here I was doing the same for the turkey, hahaha.
Then as I was leaving the office I saw a path of cherry blossom trees. I immediately thought to myself, oh I want to paint this. Of course I wanted to take a picture but I was in the car and I had someone behind me. So I took a mental note and looked around for ideas on the Internet to give me a push into the direction I wanted to go. And on that note, this is what I came up with….
“Blossoms Begin” by Doreen J. Bowers
9″ x 12″ Watercolor painting on Watercolor Cold Press Paper
I do have to say I absolutely love cherry blossom trees. I think the pink on trees is gorgeous. I can’t wait to get out there and take pictures of the new blooms. So pretty!
Tomorrow is a busy day of work and then I head back to Washington. Looking forward to seeing my kids.
Ok Day 13 checked off! Woohoo…..
Have a great day!
