Daily Painting Day 18

“Simple Flowers”

A painting a day can be quite the challenge.  While I was deciding on what to paint I just started on these flowers in a vase, just simple flowers.  And I did just that.  It was basically just going real simple.  So on that note, here is simple flowers.  I thought about not even posting it.  But this is my journal of experiences, trial and errors.  Putting myself out there just cause.

“Simple Flowers” by Doreen J. Bowers

9″ x 12″ Watercolor painting on watercolor cold press paper.

The picture itself is probably half the size of the paper.  Am I happy with this? No not really but I was playing around testing myself.  I need to stop focusing on the attempt of detail.

So as this week ends I realized all my paintings were done in watercolor.  What I like most about watercolor is the clean up process because it is so easy compared to cleaning up after acrylic painting.  I also liked the wetness of watercolor painting.  I still need to work on this process and try different ways to paint.

Live and learn, that is my goal here and oh boy am I learning!

This new week I want to test out a different technique.  I am not sure what it is called in the art world.  My goal is to not attempt detail.  I am trying to hard when I paint and I need to try not that hard….just do!  Maybe at the end of the week someone can tell me what type of art it is?  Realism, Impressionist, Folk art, or Abstract?  I am still understanding the difference….we will see where I end up at the end of the week.

Well Day 18 done…..Check it off!!!

Have a great day!
